Biography
Igor Yankov (spelling in Belorussian language: Ігар Дзмітрыевіч Янкаў; Alias: Igor Noman ; Nickname: Yanky, Ivanov) — a Belorussian nationalist.
He was born on 19th of June 1995 [2].
Igor Yankov graduated a college. He did not serve in the army. He lived in Minsk (Republic of Belarus) till autumn 2020. He used to work as a cook, bodyguard, a sales associate at a rolled metal distributor, a sales associate at an Apple store and also carried out private enterprise [3][4][5].
Being a kid Igor Yankov had been a professional soccer player but he gave it up after a trauma when he was 15 . Igor was an active member of Mink “Dinamo” soccer fan club. After relocation to Ukraine in September 2020 he took to training jiu-jitsu and competed for the professional martial art club “Kievskaya Raketa” (Kiev Rocket). Also he practiced boxing [3].
Igor’s parents expose pro-Russian views therefore he does not keep in contact with them.
Before Ukraine
In August 2020 Igor Yankov participated in unrest caused by Alexander Lukashenko election as President of Republic of Belarus. During clashes between law enforcement and protesters He had a leg fragmentation injury after a stun grenade exploded. He also became a subject of several criminal cases. Soon after a search in Igor Yankov parents’ apartment that took place on 26th of September 2020 Igor Yankov left for Ukraine. [3][6][5][2].
In Ukraine
On the first day of Special Military Operation Igor Yankov showed his willing to counter Russian forces. He took the command over Belorussian unit in “Brotherhood”(Bratstvo) volunteer battalion. [6][3][7]. Был пулемётчиком [5]. The mercenary participated in hostilities in Kiev region including Boryspol Airporl area, Lukyanovka town, Rudnitskoye village [3][5]. In the beginning of May Igor Yankov was also accounted as a machine gunner in Ukrainian military group “Tradition and order” (Tradicia & poryadok) [8].
The mercenary stated that will not surrender therefore he always carries with him a grenade and a pistol [3].
Igor Yankov is a close friend of Belorussian nationalist Andrey Tratsevskiy, who participate in hostilities in Ukraine as well [8].
The mercenary from the Republic of Belarus blogs on regular basis about his participation in hostilities in social networks. He cooperates with mass media spreading fake news about Russian military personnel [9]. He stated that he had been convicted in absentia a life sentence in a Russian maximum security prison for life sentenced detainees called “Black dolphin”. In April of 2022 the mercenary recorder a video appeal to Angelina Jolie [10].
